Exercise Description
Having
never been an active person, I didn’t think I would be able to sustain a plan
that could improve my health, but Daniel made it easy. Two times a week I
complete a full body weight lifting routine designed by him, who is also a
personal trainer. On two other days I complete a PACE cardio workout that only
takes me 12 minutes to do. Who would have thought life changing exercise would
only take a total of 3 hours out of my week.Â
Treatment Description
My
dietitian helped me astronomically with my diet. I am a chef, I love food. I
travel the world and run a food blog talking about the cooking craft of
cultures around the world. Daniel not only crafted me a meal plan that my taste
buds could love, but also helped me work in the flexibility to enjoy foods most
diabetics would be told they can never eat. He focused my diet so the majority
of the food I consumed was plant based. When I consumed foods that had a high
glycemic index he made sure I paired it with either good fats and/or a special
fiber mix, to slow digestion. He took my refined carbohydrate intake and gave
me options for whole grain and more diabetes friendly alternatives. What made a
huge change was him putting me on intermittent fasts. Every day he had me eat 3
meals a day, as I normally would, but they would all be consumed in a 6 hour window,
while the other 18 hours would be left to fast. I found that my fasted blood
glucose improved drastically only a few weeks after we started this. We
experimented with supplementation that pushed my hormone levels back to the
normal range, even getting my triglyceride levels into the ideal level, using
fish oil and some herbal supplements. I now continue to enjoy food I love, my
cortisol is stable, my triglycerides are normal, and my LDL/HDL ratio is
improved, as is my testosterone/estrogen ratio.Â
