I started with Red River Las Vegas the week before Christmas 2017. That was a tough first 3 weeks. Mainly because of all the goodies I wasn't going to be able to eat, but I was also done with how I felt. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism/Hoshimotos in December 2014. I was put on thyroid medicine and was told that diet was not really a factor. Then I found a nontraditional doctor who was addressing my Hoshimotos with a holistic approach, so I thought, but still did not address my diet. I still didn't feel good (just ask my family, I was not nor had I been fun for a long time). My point, not all Health and Wellness Centers are created equal.
Back to the here and now. In November 2017, I was homesick, falling in and out of sleep on the couch I heard a commercial about Hoshimotos and something about a red river, I ignored it. Thinking "been there done that, no one really cares about the Hoshimotos". I must have seen this commercial a thousand times that day, and I don't normally watch the local channels. So, finally I took a picture of the commercial thinking maybe fate will leave me alone and I will call when I get a chance. That night I was telling my husband about this commercial and he said: "call, it won’t hurt". Well, that was the best call I made. Haylee was so nice, she set me up with an appointment and that was all she wrote.
As of March 15, 2018, DR. Weeks has me on a healing diet, a regiment of vitamins, I have an open dialog with Dr. Weeks and even Haylee whom I speak to at least once a week. I can even call should I have any issues, questions or concerns. I have partners in my health for the first time in my life. I am learning my food triggers and even my environmental triggers and how to deal with them so that I can move forward and not get stuck. I am learning more about what I put into my body, and the likely effect it will have to keep my energy up or to help me relax so that I can actually sleep at night.
This is not a diet, it is a change of life. It has not been easy with my kids or husband when it comes to food in our home, but it has gotten easier. As they see the changes in my mood, my body and my energy levels they are all on board. Making meals can be a challenge at times but for the most part, they are all more than willing to eat what I eat (along with a box of Mac and Cheese on the side for them).
Next, to feeling like a human again, I have lost over 10 lbs and I don’t drag at the gym.
Thank you, RedRiver Health and Wellness, for picking up the pieces when I couldn’t and giving me the tools to live again.
Heather Raetz 😊
