A 27 years old lady patient visited me with a history of skin itching all over the body since 2 yrs (head to toe). Skin lesions were not seen anywhere on her body except on the right hand where blackish discoloration with thickened skin from the thumb to the index finger. On the rest of the body, she experienced reddish discoloration immediately after itching with a slight burning sensation. Her discoloration would clear up within 10 to 15 minutes. There was no visible inflammation anywhere on her body. She tried Homeopathy and Allopathy with not much relief. One of the doctors prescribed her Tab. Cetirizine which she was taking every day. If she missed a single day, she would start getting irresistible itching. According to her, she was on a mild dose of anti-allergic medicine during her pregnancy as well.
After careful interrogation, I got some clues on her improper food habits and lifestyle. I guided her and gave her strict instructions on changing these food habits. I suggested and prescribed her scientific diet and medicated water preparation instructions as per SBEBA guidelines. We stopped her daily dose of Cetirizine. I was a bit in double mind and nervous as she was taking this medication for the last two years. I prescribed Ayurvedic medicine one Kashayam and one Vati with minimal dosage. I also gave her instruction to call me if she had uncontrollable itching. I was expecting her calls and waited for 4 days.Â
On my curiosity, I called her up after 5 days to ask her condition. Unbelievable! !!!!!
She didn’t scratch her body after taking medicated water and following up on the prescribed diet with Ayurvedic medicines. I felt so proud to be part of Ayurveda profession and SBEBA guidelines. The result I got here is above my expectations and demonstrates successful skin itching treatment case in Ayurveda.
