A 12 yr old boy with a history of food allergy visited my OPD 15 days with his mother. He would get a sudden onset of itching with reddish rashes all over the body since 2014.Approximately 5 yrs ago, the boy started symptoms of hiccups frequently. After doing all laboratory tests, he was diagnosed with GERD & treated by Allopathic medicines. After some time the boy developed sudden onset of severe itching with reddish rashes all over the body, especially in the morning or at night.
He would take Atarax syrup as it used to give him relief within half an hour. His mother noticed these symptoms usually appeared after the intake of non-veg diet, flour, soft drinks, and all junk foods. I gave some instructions to his mother and advised her to note down each and every detail of his diet. I gave her strict diet instructions and advised to prepare medicated water as per SBEBA guidelines. Along with this, I prescribed two Ayurvedic medicines as well.
As a responsible mother, she used to send me his diet chart daily. The boy developed rashes and itching during the course of Ayurveda treatment. I found that he was allergic to proteins (Animal & plant origin). The severity of his symptoms drastically reduced for GERD. He had generalized symptoms confined only on his cheeks with no itching but the mild onset of rashes which disappeared within half an hour ( without usual dosage of Atarax ) His treatment is still ongoing for GERD under strict scientific diet. Hoping he may develop immunity to fight against these allergic reactions. Ayurveda treatment for GERD is very effective as you can see in this case. I followed SBEBA guidelines for this treatment.
