49-year-oldfemale, 5’4” weighing 104 pounds with Blood Pressure: 100/66. Appearance:Pale, anxious, fatigued, puffiness in face and neck.The patient presented with the following symptoms:-Dysphagiawith discomfort and swelling, tenderness of neck and throat area-Weight loss with pain in the legs that resulted in her ability to stand andwalk properly -Constipation that resulted in fatigue-DepressionAfterproper examination, in addition to swelling and tenderness in neck, her Thyroidappeared to be swollen and tender on palpation. I decided to refer her toradiology for ultrasonography and lab for Anti-thyroid antibody test. Thepatient had consulted with the primary health care physician and startedallopathic treatment of Prednisolone, Ibuprofen & Thyroxin. She got mildrelief but her Antibodies remained above 900 and no significant positive impactwas observed in blood work. After 4 weeks of treatment, the patient stoppedallopathic medicine and started home remedies with no relief. She decided toconsult with our clinic on Jan.’2016 after she had tried allopathic medicineand home remedies. Test results:–Ultrasonography showed hypertrophy of right and left lobes of thyroid.–Blood results showed anti-thyroid antibodies at 900> & ESR at 96.DiagnosisSubacute Lymphocytic Thyroiditis, also known as Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.I orderedblood tests for thyro-peroxidase antibodies.
