A 30 year old male, k/c/0 was suffering from chronic Pancreatitis since 2 yrs. He reached out to me with symptoms of chardi (vomiting) udarshula (pain in abdomen), adhman (abdominal distension), samyak mala pravartan (unsatisfactory motions) for the last 2 days. He had shooting pain that was radiating from mid epigastrium to the Lower mid back. S/0 pancreatic attack. One day previous patient on his work trip, he had chicken for his meal and also held the urge for defecation (mala vegdharan). Since that night he had the above symptoms as mentioned.Diagnosis:O/E: Pulse- 98/min regularBP: 120/70 mm HgEyes: No pallor/icterus/cyanosisMala: Ruksha alpa mala pravrutti samyak (small bouts of stools, dry)Mutra: Sadaha(burning)PA: Epigastric and umbilical quadrant tenderness.Percussion: Adhman (tympanic),BS: Present but sluggish
Due to.the pain, it was difficult for the patient to sleep at night. He applied hot water bed for fomentation which resulted in plushta dagdha on abdominal skin.
Clinical diagnosis: Vidagdha ajirna
Chikitsa: Paachan, anuloman,pitta shaman.
Medication Prescribed:
Phalatrikadi Kwath 10ml muhur muhur.
Shankha Vati 250mg with nimbu swaras every half hour till pain subside
In clinic I gave one tablet for chewing. It immediately relieved his abdomen pain from.severe to moderate. He had a relief from vomiting as well.
Diet advised: Lemon juice sweetened with khanda sharkara
Next day peya only followed by manda, yavagu, cooked rice and kalpana. Patient came for follow up with full recovery from the above symptoms. I suggested CT scan to assess the condition of the pancreas.
