Homeopathy For Weakness: A Case Study

A 50 year old white male, was referred by his PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN after failing to identify the underlying cause of nausea/vomiting for more than 2 years. PATIENT had become progressively worse and was given the option of being admitted to the hospital, or see if homeopathy could provide relief or solution to his disease. On March 13, 2013, PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN stated that PATIENT was in his office complaining of excessive vomiting. PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN received consent of PATIENT to refer him to homeopathy. PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN noted that condition was debilitating and PATIENT was in such distress and weakened state that he would not be able to sustain his strength for more than a month. PATIENT was awaiting blood results from Miami, FL that would take 3 weeks, specialty test (not written down) that may detect other illnesses not present in normal laboratory work. PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN had received treatment from me in the past, and his medical condition successfully treated. Main symptoms:• Vomiting• Nausea which precedes vomiting and subsides for a while after vomiting, constant• Slight fever, flu-like symptoms• Unable to sleep• Profuse perspiration, pale and puffy appearance• Coughing fits and inability to breathe – may or may not be due to asthma

I diagnosed his problem as stomach related even though PATIENT was unable to fully describe his symptoms. The first disease I had to treat was the vomiting and nausea because it had caused PATIENT to become so weak from lack of nutrition and liquids that it decreased his quality of life. Cina 30 is used to treat stomach viruses/worms. Cina is not normally used to treat nausea/vomiting, however if the PATIENT has any stomach viruses/worms, then these parasites may cause stomach upset and the secondary result from a virus is vomiting.

I felt maybe PATIENT had a worm/virus in his stomach, and Cina 30 would kill any virus/ worms in the stomach, as noted in Kent’s Rubic and Boericke’s Materia Medica. I explained to PATIENT, that I since I am unable to get a full description of his symptoms and history, that however his disease is definitely stomach related. Since there was no change in his condition, I would switch the remedy and to Cina, to which PATIENT consented. Again I told PATIENT I would start with 30 power to minimize aggravation. I administered Cina 30 to PATIENT in liquid form, and told him to leave it in his mouth for about 30 seconds and then swallow. I advised him that he may have a parasite that was upsetting his digestive system, and I would check back with him in an hour to see if there was any change in his condition. Remedy noted in PATIENT’s log.

After another half hour, or approximately 10:30 pm at night, I checked on PATIENT. I observed that PATIENT was in a very deep sleep and could hear him snoring. I decided not to wake PATIENT to administer any further doses, and would check on him in the morning. In chronic cases, when THE medicine is found the PATIENT goes into deep sleep and during the course of sleep, starts the recovery process. PATIENT will wake up feeling like he was never sick.

Next morning, PATIENT was walking on his own in the lobby area of the lodge. PATIENT stated that he had no vomiting and all of his symptoms were gone. PATIENT stated that he has never felt so good like this in a long, long time, and he was smiling and saying what magic! PATIENT stated he was generally in good health, and was presently divorced and working in the cold country. PATIENT said that he had been to many specialists over the years, and had done blood work, had gastroscopy procedure done, and no one could diagnose anything wrong with him.

For PATIENT’s craving and withdrawal from alcohol I prescribed Arsenicum Album 200 as noted in Kent’s Rubic and Boericke’s Materia Medica. Arsenic is notorious in history as a poison used for murders. In its homeopathic form, Arsenicum album cures the symptoms that Arsenic causes. By extreme dilution and homeopathic potentization, curative properties are enhanced and poisonous and undesirable side effects are eliminated.

I advised PATIENT that I would help him with his craving for alcohol and if he consented to the prescription of Arsenicum album 200 for this, PATIENT accepted. I advised him to take Arsenicum on an empty stomach three times/day for 2 weeks, one half hour before meals, the liquid was mixed with 20 size globules and 4 pills should be taken. PATIENT was also given medicine of arsenicum album IM, the liquid was mixed with 20 size globules and he was advised to take 4 pills after 2 weeks, three times a day, and after another month to decrease the dosage to one time/week for 2 months. Prescription noted in PATIENT’s log.

After day 4, PATIENT was feeling much better, and said that he would like to resume his normal activities, and see about returning to work. He claimed that he had gained his strength, though not fully but was anxious about some personal business he wanted to tend to. PATIENT no longer had any nausea and vomiting so the Cina 30 was discontinued. He was sent home with Antimonium Crudum 30, Arsenicum album 200 and Arsenicum Album IM with instructions on use.

In the months following, I was informed by PHYSICIAN that PATIENT had stopped his drinking, he was back to work, and had found a companion and was enjoying himself.
