The patient had been asthmatic for several years and thought this problem can never cured. She got assurance that on condition that she is willing to let go of some of the triggers, everything will be fine. SymptomsAsthma is an allergic condition resulting from the reaction of the system to one or more allergens. The patient was having frequent attacks of shortness of breath. She would start gasping for breath, especially at night. Had tightness in the chest, profuse sweating and at times vomiting. Causes It is caused by variety of factors. For many it is the weather conditions, food, drugs, dust, animal hair, fungi, insects, perfumes, pollen of flowering trees eg the Jacaranda, and other irritants. Food which trigger these allergic reactions are fried eggs, milk, chocolates, frozen foods, flesh foods, sugar, caffeine from drinks and teas, and condiments. Malnutrition has also been attributed to asthma attacks. According to the late Dr Royal Lee, a nutrition expert, malnutrition in general, with adrenal insufficiency, hypoglycemia and intolerance for carbohydrates are the factors leading to asthma in adults. Dr Carl J Reich of Canada considers asthma as a maladaptive state of the body due to deficiency of certain nutritional elements.
