The patient had been asthmatic for several years and thought this problem can never cured. She got assurance that on condition that she is willing to let go of some of the triggers, everything will be fine. SymptomsAsthma is an allergic condition resulting from the reaction of the system to one or more allergens. The patient was having frequent attacks of shortness of breath. She would start gasping for breath, especially at night. Had tightness in the chest, profuse sweating and at times vomiting. Causes It is caused by variety of factors. For many it is the weather conditions, food, drugs, dust, animal hair, fungi, insects, perfumes, pollen of flowering trees eg the Jacaranda, and other irritants. Food which trigger these allergic reactions are fried eggs, milk, chocolates, frozen foods, flesh foods, sugar, caffeine from drinks and teas, and condiments. Malnutrition has also been attributed to asthma attacks. According to the late Dr Royal Lee, a nutrition expert, malnutrition in general, with adrenal insufficiency, hypoglycemia and intolerance for carbohydrates are the factors leading to asthma in adults. Dr Carl J Reich of Canada considers asthma as a maladaptive state of the body due to deficiency of certain nutritional elements.
TreatmentÂ
With the modern medical system it has not been able to cure asthma. Drugs and vaccines have only managed to alleviate the symptoms. The cure, therefore lies in stimulation of the functioning of slack excretory organs and appropriate diet patterns to eliminate toxic and waste matter and reconstruct the body.
To begin with the patient was on a fast five days on lemon juice with honey. During that period the patient had warm water enema daily cleanse the bowels. After the fast the patient was on an all-fruit diet for further five days. The patient further adopted a vegetarian diet. That was three years ago, up to today the patient has never had any attacks. The treatment was repeated at three months intervals.
The diet contain a limited quantity of carbohydrates, fats and proteins which are acid-forming foods, and a liberal quantity of alkaline foods consisting of fresh fruits, green vegetables and sprouted seeds and grains. The breakfast may consist of fresh fruits with prunes or other dried fruit. Steamed vegetables with whole wheat bread or chappatis may be taken for lunch. Dinner may consist of a large salad of raw vegetables such as cucumber, lettuce, tomato, carrot and beet with cottage cheese.
The last meal should be preferably be taken before sunset or at least three hours before going to bed.
Other measures
The patient should avoid foods which tend to produce phlegm, such as white rice, sugar, curd, fried foods, alcohol beverages, pickles, condiments, sauces and milk products should be avoided totally.
Should eat slow chewing the food properly.Â
Drink eight to ten glasses of water everyday, not to be taken with meals.
Brisk walks for thirty minutes daily.
