History:When I saw the patient, she was totally unable to move the arm for about 1 week. The patient was emotionally vulnerable, especially after the loss of her husband 2 years earlier. She had started to do physiotherapy and decided to start with acupuncture treatment because she was very worried about her current situation. My prognosis was very reserved after seeing her X-rays and exams. The patient had a shoulder lesion with large calcification. Usually these problems require continued treatment with history of slow recovery. I explained the details to the patient and decided to start treatment.
Session – As usual in my treatments, I did distal acupuncture. The patient responded well to the treatment without however having felt any change in that session.
Session – A few days later, as agreed, we return to treatment. At this point the patient still had no improvement and we were to see each other again the following week
Session – At the 3rd session, the patient presented significant improvements. He was already able to perform arm movements.
The patient started physical therapy on the same day of the 3rd session, and the improvements had already occurred (after the second treatment)
At the end of 5 treatments, the patient could easily move her shoulder freely. We decided to stop the treatment, because patient had shown significant improvement would continue with physiotherapy treatments as suggested.
This was one of the cases in which the patient recovered much better than I expected, and it is a living proof that the healing processes often occur in a totally different way than expected.
