This case is very rare in my professional career: Bowel & bladder incontinence neurogenic bladder. Patient aged 22 years having incontinence of bowel and bladder since 14 years and is under treatment in AIIMS with wysolone 2.5mg OD as maintenance dose since 10 years. He is son of IAS officer in Jharkhand and his mother is IRS officer. There was no probable cause of incontinence of bowel and bladder (neurogenic bladder). This particular case was so rare and was recorded 50 years back in AIIMS.When patient was 12 year old, he had sudden headache of VAS 8/10. It lasted for 12 hours. Next day symptoms of incontinence appeared. Patient was referred to medical college and was treated for UTI without any investigations. For 2 years he was under antibiotics but no relief was found. Thereafter he was admitted to AIIMS New Delhi in department of Neurosurgery and Neurology and Urology. No significant reason was traced out and lastly was said to be a rare case of neurogenic bladder. Thereafter the patient who himself is an IAS aspirant had to struggle a lot because he couldn’t control his urgency of urine for even a few seconds.
Patient was referred by my ex student Mr Raghu Nath. On arrival all previous documents were examined but nothing was found. Lastly a neurophysiological approach was taken using integration of various schools of Acupuncture and Neurophysiology was done such as from motorline of scalp with Gb 31,32 Sp 9, 6 further integrated with five elemental auricular Acupuncture with ocular Acupuncture; needles in the orbit of the eye. After 10 days the outcome was significant. We could see there was a good response in the bladder and patient was able to withstand urine for 4 and a half minutes without any side effects. There was no limping of left lower limb.
