A 27 year old married woman who is a classic dancer came to our clinic with the following complaints and symptoms.Symptoms:Irregular menstrual cycle with a gap of 2 monthsMenorrhagia Anovulatory cycle Leg pain WeaknessAnorexiaDiagnosis and Examination:The patient is suffering with irregular menstrual cycles since her menarche. She took some modern medicine treatments but results were short term. She tried hormonal therapy as well. Body type/Prakriti – Vata pittaDiagnosis- As per Ayurveda, the reproductive system is the site of Vata dosha. Apan vayu is responsible for menstrual flow. As vata dosha is in an imbalanced state, its activity is hampered. In addition, the formation of cysts happens because of kapha dosha, which weakens the hormonal activity that results in un-ovulatory cycles . Here the treatment was given as per vata and kapha imbalance.Vikruti/ Imbalance- Vata kaphaPatient came to me when she had heavy menstrual flow/ menorrhagia for 15 days. She had withdrawal bleeding that was heavy, with clots and leg pain. As a result of her heavy menstrual cycle, she experienced anorexia and weakness.
Ayurvedic Treatment Prescribed:
Sariva + Nagkeshakar + Bilva+ Lodhra with water
Aarogya vardhini with water water 3 times a day
Kamdudha Rasa 3 times a day with water
Results: Her menstrual flow stopped within 4 days.
Lab Results: USG done
Uterus size: 70*25*44mm
Endometrial thickness: 9mm.
Right cyst: 47*26*16, Vol- 14cc
Left cyst: 48*17*24, Vol- 12cc
After that regular treatment is given for PCOS.

Shatavari vati twice a day with milk
Tapyadi loha 3 times a day with warm water
Arogyavardhini 3 times a day with water
Follow-up after 30 days:
Patient had relief from anorexia, weakness and leg pain.Menstrual cycle started after 35 days. Flow was moderate for 3 days. We continued the same treatment for next month as well.
USG done:
Uterus size: 69*35*50mm
Endometrial thickness: 14mm.
Right cyst: 46*26*22mm, Vol- 14cc
Left cyst- 40*2523mm, Vol- 12cc
We recommended 21 days of Panchakarma therapy for Basti/ medicated enema.
Panchkarma Prescription:
30 Basti given – morning and evening daily – 15days *2
Sahacharadi oil basti – 19 basti
Utkleshana Basti: 6 basti
Erandmuladi Niruha basti- 5 basti
After this she started getting regular menstrual flow and her menstruation was for 5 days with moderate flow.
Internal medicines continued for the next 3 months.
Results After the Treatment:
Regular menstrual cycle after 28-30 days with normal flow with no clots
No pain or fatigue
She is planning for a healthy pregnancy now.
