Mrs. X, our regular patient, made a frantic call to our clinic 2 weeks ago asking for help for her 92-year-old mother in law living with them. The family was quarantined as one of the members had tested positive for COVID. The old mother 92 living with them, bedridden following a hemiplegic stroke two years ago was suffering from bedsores and bad fulminant eczema on her hands aggravated for a couple of months. The patient is old, worn out, depressed, irritable and blames the daughter in law for her ill health. Extremely morose and indolent with no desire for any activity. The eruptions are scabby, the size of a small pea with a sticky, foul-smelling discharge. She had taken a course of Amoxicillin and local emollient and steroid creams with little relief. Nothing remarkable except that patient keeps rubbing her hands and feet. Wants the others in the family to gently rub her hands. No other history was given.
Based on the scanty history and pictures of the lesions sent, the dirty appearance of the skin, the overall dryness, scabby eruptions, thin, glutinous, foul-smelling discharge and a totally indolent state, *Graphites 200* a single dose was administered.
The next pics were sent 7 days later.
The eruptions were 90% better with a marked difference in the patient’s demeanor as reported by the daughter in law. She (the patient) was less irritable and more active and tried to participate in the family’s conversations.
Even In the worst pathologies, it’s the overall picture and a characteristic symptom that can be elicited by the skillful physician that helps arrive at the Similimum in no time
The hard, wrinkled, dry skin with moist, scabby eruptions better by rubbing are so characteristic of Graphites, proven correct by the near dramatic response to homeopathy.
