Patient was diagnosed case of Gout for a couple of years. During consultation, she explained that this problem started with sudden onset of inflammation and pain in toe and fingers which caused lot of discomfort in movement. As time progressed, disease got more vitiated and affected other joints also including phalanges, ankle and knees. She had a feeling of fever while warmth and burning sensation was present in the affected joints.Primarily, she consulted allopathic doctor who advised variety of investigations but nothing was found abnormal except high uric acid value. Patient was prescribed medicines according to diagnosis but symptoms were only relieved temporarily. Advice
on Ayurvedic Treatment for Gout:

Pathya: Patient was
advised to drink enough water to stay hydrated and flush out toxins (and acids)
from the body, patient was also advised to do joint relaxing exercises, drink
coriander seeds soaked water, chew saunf after food, use roasted cumin seeds
powder to prepare meals. Veggies like carrot, beets, use of jaggery for relief
in scanty menstruation and iron deficiency, Patient was also advised to take
giloy juice, light-freshly prepared easy to digest meals. For relief in pain
and stiffness in the toes, fomentation with ajawain potli and gentle massages
were advised.
Apathya: Advised to avoid protein
based things such as pulses, black grams, kidney beans, groundnuts, Bengal
grams, dry fruits, soybeans, tomatoes, tamarind, yoghurt, frozen, acidic, gas
forming, heavy edibles, sitting in one posture for longer time, day time
sleeping etc.
Modifications/Changes

In Feb, 2017
Vasti shodhak churna was
replaced with Rejuva churna while Rakta shodhak vati and Soot shekhar

In May, 2017
Twakrog har churna was replaced
with Amavatadi churna and in tablets, Amritadi guggulu was changed with
Peedantak guggulu.

Outcome
on Gout Ayurveda:
After a few month’s
medication, patient responded with mild changes in her complaints of pain,
burning sensation and indigestion. In the next few months, she shared more
progress. The intensity and frequency of pain as well as burning sensation in
the joints also remarkably reduced. But rasa was changed with Rakta shodhak
guggulu and Punaroday vati. Punarnavadi kwath was given instead of Dashmool
kwath. compared to these symptoms, there was less difference in swelling. With
progression of treatment, in Aug, patient responded well regarding the swelling
issue too, in the following weeks, she reported significant relief in the
swelling problem. Her joint movements and walking also became unrestricted now.
In the next couple of months,
she reported that she did not experience pain for a long time. Sometimes
negligible swelling was present if she did not follow diet restrictions
properly. In November, based on continuous recovery, patient was put on reduced
dose of medicines to evaluate the positive changes in body and disease. In
January 2018, patient explained a perfect state of health as she was free from
the all nagging symptoms i.e. pain, Oedema, burning sensation in joints,
Indigestion and bowel irregularity.
