Ayurveda and Migraines
We advised />Ayurveda migraine
treatment for 21 days at our clinic in Dehradun followed by 4
months of treatment at home with medication. After initial consultation we
advised her Ayurveda Therapy (AyT) that we have developed by years of different
studies and clinical trials.
From June 2002-2004, we
conducted different studies with Dabur and Chandigarh based Dhanwantari
Ayurvedic College on patients suffering from migraine. The results of this
study showed that ATP brought significant (p<0.05) reduction in frequency,
pain intensity (VAS), associated symptoms, headache days and MIDAS score. While
the results of this study were presented at 16th Migraine Trust International
Symposium, London, September 2006, an abstract was published in Cephalalgia. Following the studies, we at Padaav clinic conducted
a randomized clinical trial in 2012.
Summary of Ayurveda Treatment
Therapy:
Migraine therapy as developed
after numerous studies and clinical trial follows principles of Rasa Shastra
which is one of the eight principles of Ayurveda. We prescribed a combination
of classical Ayurvedic formulations (Narikel Lavan, Numax*, Rason Vati and
Godanti Mishran) as medicine for the patient. In addition to the medicine, a
1600 calorie rich balanced diet with three meals and snacks–and eight hours of
sound sleep was suggested.
After 4 months of diet modification
along with Ayurveda therapy, she has been migraine free.
In patient’s own words:
Migraine – just a headache –
as we all know it to be! But only a person suffering from Migraine knows about
its severity. I am very thankful to Vaidyaji for curing my chronic migraine.
Thank you Vaidyaji!
