History: A case of Acne Vulgaris ( Darun Pidika) from 2 years, was on a heavy dose of steroids and growth hormone treatment when she came to AAWC for Ayurvedic treatment.

After 2 months of Ayurvedic treatment at AAWC in the form of medicines and mukhalepam, her acne is visible only in small scars as shown in before and after images. Scars are also fading gradually with no more new eruptions. Her general physique also improved with improved appetite and stamina.
Are you among one of the 80-85% teenagers who has been affected by pimples on your face? Acne Vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory infectious disease condition that is most prevalent in youth. Acne usually affects the skin on the face, neck, upper part of the chest, and the back. Ayurveda classifies acne as one of the minor ailments that resembles of a bacterial infection. Ayurveda defines acne as vitiation among Vata dosha, Kapha dosha, and Rakta dhatu which can lead to the development of acne.
What are the causes of Acne?
Acne can result from various factors that include excess sebum production that can lead to hyperkeratinization triggering inflammatory mediators in blood, all of which play an important role in the pathogenesis of acne. Other factors that can cause acne include stress, irritation, potential dietary factors, irritation to the skin and increased androgen production irrespective of sex which is also referred to as hormonal acne. Acne can be characterized as blackheads and whiteheads (comedones), scaly red skin, large papules (nodules), pinheads (papules), cysts and sometimes scarring.
Science and research on Pimples on Face Ayurvedic Treatment
I share a case study that has been published in a science journal named An ayurvedic approach in the management of Tarunya Pitika. W.S.R. to Acne Vulgaris: A case study.1 was done on a 21-year-old female patient who complained about various symptoms of skin disorder that included acne vulgaris, itching on facial skin, swelling, skin discoloration and painful boils for 1 year. Her Ayurvedic treatment for pimples on face included: Arogyavardhini, Manjista, Daruharidra, Khadir, Mild Virechan- Gandharva Haritaki during the night with Koshna jal Anupan for 45 days.
Dose: 2gm x Twice a Day. Patient was asked to follow up every 7 days. By the end of the 6th week, all the symptoms had been reversed. It proved the efficacy of ayurvedic herbal formulations in the management of Tarunya pitika (acne vulgaris).
Outcome: Good
