A 31-year-old male came to our clinic with fever, productive cough of sticky pale yellow for 5 days. He took a tablet that had antipyretic and antihistamine. After taking tablet he developed drug allergy, facial swelling with rashes all over the body. He was having severe headache, anorexia, redness and burning sensation in both eyes as well.Symptoms:O/E: Tachycardia, afebrileThroat: Acute pharyngitis, both eyes- ciliary congestion with sticky secretionsChest: Clear air entryDiagnosis: Pratishyaya – saama kapha pitta
Treatment: Paachana, langhana, rukshana
Langhana: Anabhishyandhi,laghu,avidahi diet
This treatment was started at 6 pm.
Next day morning, his father informed on the phone that cough had reduced with no fever. He was feeling active with no pain in the throat.
Appetite was present and his rashes had subsided.
No burning and heaviness in the eyes.
For Paachana- kashayam tablet dose- 1/16 the tablet every hour
Medicated water was advised
After 5 days he came for follow-up, there was no skin rashes and throat was not congested. He resumed his work on the third day itself.
Acute infections can be very well managed by SBEBA with a fast and speedy recovery.
