Complaints: Headache in left temple occurring 1-2 times daily
and occasionally in the middle of night. Low back pain once a day to every few
days, aggravated with prolonged standing and sitting. Chronic stress from work.
Acupuncture: Left-side Yang horary points in Metal-Order of
LI1, UB66, GB41, SI5, and ST36.
Treatment process: The patient had 4 acupuncture sessions in
2 weeks. After the first treatment, she felt an immediate peace in mind and relief
of headache. Each additional treatment gave further improvement in all the problems
in intensity, frequency, and duration. At the fourth visit, she was elated at such
a dramatic elevation of mood and elimination of body pain.
Discussion: Anxiety and depression is easily treated when the
cause is external and is not generated from the conscious mind. She responded
to acupuncture well because she was overworked and had a body that is highly
reactive to acupuncture.
