Complaints: Chronic fatigue, whole body fibromyalgic pain, upper shoulders tension, spine pain, PMS, hay fever, frequent sinus and urinary bladder infection, cries easily, headache, anxiety, depression, and perimenopause with PMS and hot flashes.
Acupuncture: Right-side Yin Horary points in Metal-Order of LU11, KD2, LR3, HT4, and SP9 with Earth points Lung 5, HT3, LR8, and KD10 for a constitution with Lesser Yin and Greater Yin combination (aka Kapha in Ayurveda, Melanchoic Cold-Dry in Unani, and Soeumin in Sasang)
Treatment process: The patient had 63 treatments in 3 years. She initially began with twice a week visit and now receiving acupuncture once a month. The first 6 treatments in Wood-Order of LR1, HT8, SP3, LU8, and KD10 were not as helpful as the Metal-Order. Acupuncture was significantly helpful for all the symptoms, lasting an average of several weeks at a time.
Discussion: For personal reason, this patient declined herbs, which would be more helpful for the internal and systemic diseases. Chronic infection indicates her syndrome is more interior related. The herbal formula would be Shi Quan Da Bu Tang (Bai Zhu, Bai Shao, Zhi Gan Cao, Huang Qi, Rou Gui, Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, He Shou Wu, Sheng Jiang, and Gan Cao). But acupuncture safely and effectively addresses her problems, which she was not able to get with chemistry-language medicine.
