A 50 year old female approached with severe abdominal pain, fever and vomitings. On clinical examination, pain was severe in the right upper part of abdomen, with tenderness, and positive Murphey’s sign. Ultrasound abdomen revealed Acute calculous cholecystitis, with inflammed Gall bladder, and multiple stones with largest of 10mm calculus in it. Also, there was a 6mm stone in the CBD (Common Bile Duct), and indication for immediate surgery as it may lead to obstruction and further complications. She was a known case of Diabetes.
Initially patient consent was taken for treatment, as it may possibly need surgery. For symptomatic relief, specialised Ayurveda guidelines were adopted with strict pathya and few pinches of medicine, which relieved the symptoms. It was continued for 72 hours. Later on, patient specific medicine was started to dissolve the gall stone, and pathya (diet) was continued, for a month. Scanning report after 1 month shows CBD (Common Bile Duct) stone dissolved completely, and also the stone size in the gall bladder was reduced from 10mm to 6mm, however few calculi were remaining. Patient was devoid of any symptoms the whole period. Disease specific diet is continued along with the treatment
