Science and Research

Pears Health Benefits:
Antioxidants:
The fruit is exceptionally rich in phytonutrients like flavonoids, which are powerful antioxidants. Pears contain high amounts of hydroxybenzoic acids, hydroxycinnamic acids, hydroxyquinones, flavonols, anthocyanins, carotenoids etc. All of these antioxidants have shown remarkable anti-inflammatory properties and inhibit all chronic diseases that arise due to inflammation, including heart diseases and Diabetes II.
Heart Diseases:
High level of dietary fiber in pears is able to bind to bile acids in the stomach, thus indirectly reducing cholesterol synthesis. Additionally, the phytonutrients present in Pears also help in the interaction of the fibers with bile acids, thereby enhancing the benefits of the fruit. Regular intake of this fruit decreases the risk of strokes by almost 50% and characterize pear as natural medicine to help prevent heart disease.
Cancer:
Pear fibers also bind to secondary bile acids in the stomach. The accumulation of secondary bile acids is mainly responsible for cancers, especially colorectal cancer. Moreover, the fruit is rich in cinnamic acids, which has shown good results against gastric cancer. Recent reports have also indicated the benefits of this fruit in inhibition of esophageal cancer.
