About me

Jamie Martin is the editor in chief of Experience Life, the award-winning health and fitness magazine dedicated to empowering its 3.5 million readers to live their healthiest, happiest lives, most authentic lives. Jamie's career at the magazine began as an editorial intern in June 2005, after earning her BA in professional journalism from the University of Minnesota. Over the past decade, she has worn many hats, most recently serving as the senior director of content, then executive editor, before being named editor in chief in January 2016. A lifelong healthy-living enthusiast, Jamie's fitness interests include running, strength training, and yoga, including a certification in prenatal yoga instruction. She is passionate about supporting women and their families through pregnancy and beyond with movement and education. She is also an advocate for Minnesota newborn screening legislation to include rare genetic disorders like Krabbe Disease, which took the life of her 18-month-old nephew in November 2014. Thanks to her long tenure with the magazine and depth of knowledge about health and wellness, Jamie is often called upon internally by colleagues and externally by the media and other groups for insights on health, fitness, and optimal-living topic. She's a regular guest on KARE 11 (the NBC affiliate in Minneapolis). She lives in the Twin Cities with her husband and their two daughters. Together they enjoy biking, gardening, exploring, and spending time on Minnesota's beautiful lakes whenever they get the chance.
