About me

Anne Dunev grew up in Northern California. Her interest was in English and Literature and she planned a career as a writer. During her freshman year in college a personal health issue brought her to an encounter with conventional medicine. Told she needed surgery, she decided there must be another way to heal. She was able to avoid surgery and experience a full recovery, without further drugs or medical intervention. She wanted to understand more about getting and staying well for herself and others. That was the start of a life-long journey in alternative medicine and natural health. A college friend gave her a copy of "Let's Get Well- by Adelle Davis, the Godmother of the Health food movement. Reading Adelle's books gave Anne a passion for nutrition as medicine. She graduated from Ohio State University with a B.S. in Health Sciences. "The definition of 'doctor' going back to the Greek is teacher. A big part of my job is to teach people how to get themselves well... - Anne Dunev For graduate school, she began to study Hospital Management and did an internship at Columbus Children's Hospital. When she saw that the sickest children in Intensive Care were being fed fried bologna sandwiches on white bread, popsicles and potato chips, she asked the Registered Dietician who designed the menu what criteria she used to choose the menu. The answer was, "Only calories count and that is all children will eat.- Anne realized that the hospital setting was not the place she needed to be. She moved to New York City and ran the office of a top Plastic Surgeon. When she married, she was able to travel all over the world, meeting people from many cultures and visiting wonderful places. She never lost her interest in Nutrition and Natural Health, and raised her children on organic whole foods. When her children went to school, Anne returned to graduate school and studied Nutrition, earning a certificate from Parker College. She began a clinical practice. When the family moved to the U.K., Anne studied homeopathy and herbology. She began her work on a Doctorate in Naturopathic Mediciney and taught at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London. When she returned to the U.S., she completed her dissertation on "The History of Mind/Body Healing- and earned her PhD. Recently she completed the coursework for a post-Doctorate certificate in Applied Clinical Nutrition from The Southern California College of Life Sciences and is now working towards her Diplomate in Applied Clinical Nutrition. Anne has been a featured speaker at International Wellness Festivals in Sun Valley, Idaho and St. Hill, U.K. She has been a guest on 150 radio shows on natural solutions. She is the author of a weight loss book called, "The Fat Fix Diet-, and has given numerous seminars at schools, churches and other venues on Nutrition and Natural Medicine. Anne says, "The definition of 'doctor' going back to the Greek is teacher. A big part of my job is to teach people how to get themselves well and how to feed their families. Eating right is half the battle, but that is a challenge due to commercial farming practices. But the biggest threat to our health today comes from the very people who run the health care system because money is placed above well-being. So being an educated health consumer is our best defense.-
