About me
Terry Wahls, MD, is a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Iowa, where she conducts clinical trials testing the effect of therapeutic diet and lifestyle to treat multiple sclerosis-related symptoms (learn more about her active clinical trials at https://wahls.lab.uiowa.edu/join-study). In 2018, Dr. Wahls was awarded the Linus Pauling Award from The Institute for Functional Medicine for her contributions to clinical research, patient care, and patient advocacy.
Dr. Wahls is also a patient with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis, which confined her to a tilt-recline wheelchair for four years. She restored her health using a diet and lifestyle program she designed specifically for her brain and now pedals her bike to work each day. She is the author of The Wahls Protocol: How I Beat Progressive MS Using Paleo Principles and Functional Medicine and the paperback The Wahls Protocol: A Radical New Way to Treat All Chronic Autoimmune Conditions Using Paleo Principles, as well as the companion cookbook The Wahls Protocol Cooking for Life: The Revolutionary Modern Paleo Plan to Treat All Chronic Autoimmune Conditions.
Dr. Wahls travels the world lecturing about the healing power of diet and lifestyle for those with chronic disease.
Dr. Terry Wahls' Research-Backed Strategies To Managing Multiple Sclerosis And Other Autoimmune Diseases
The Wahls Protocol comes out of Dr. Wahls' own quest to treat the debilitating symptoms she experiences as a sufferer of progressive MS. Informed by science, she began using Paleo principles as guidelines for her unique, nutrient-rich plan. This book shares Dr. Wahls' astonishing personal story of recovery and details the program, with up-to-date research she's now conducting at the University of Iowa.
