About me
I have been a speech language pathologist for over 10 years. I received my undergraduate degree in special education from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Upon graduating, I went on to receive my masters degree in speech language pathology from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. I have worked as a speech therapist in numerous public and private schools, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, home health speech, and currently provide tele therapy speech services. I hold my Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) through the American Speech and Hearing Association. I love working as a speech therapist and helping others with their speech and language development!
I am mom to three young children - Grace (5 years), Caroline (3 years) and Brooks (18 months). My husband, Matt, and I met at Vanderbilt in Nashville and we have been married for 8 years. We have lived in Dallas and Chicago prior to recently moving to the western suburb of Chicago and we are enjoying suburb life!
As a Speech Language Pathologist, I am able to consult with you on your child's language and speech development and milestones. I will offer implementations to foster their development and talk about when to seek prolonged professional help.
Difficulties I've encountered in motherhood:
With my first daughter, I did not implement a sleep schedule and don't think I slept for 9 months! I then learned about Moms on Call from Kate and followed the schedule with my next two children. I was so grateful for a program that offers simple strategies that work for new, sleep-deprived parents! I now have three kids that all sleep through the night (most of the time!).
As a speech therapist, I love watching my children's speech and language skills develop, especially the burst of language that occurs around 18 months of age! Seeing a child learn and discover the world around them is so fun to watch. Each of my three children have such unique, wonderful personalities. I love to see them each develop and grow in their own way!
What I can't live without as a mom:
As a mom, I can't live without my mama friends, yoga pants and coffee!
