About me

My name is Fernando Bernall. I am a primary health care provider, according to Florida Statute 457.102(2). I'm also a Board Certified and a licensed practitioner of acupuncture, and a member of the Institute of Functional Medicine at Cleveland Clinic. My current practice is in St. Augustine, Florida. I'm a graduate of the prestigious Florida Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and have completed post-graduate training in substance abuse at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx, NY. I am a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT) and have completed advanced Dry Needling training through Myopain Seminars. I have studied orthopedic acupuncture under Richard Hazel in New York and currently certified in Acupoint Injection Therapy. I am a graduate of the Institute of Functional Medicine's Applying for Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP) and Certified Functional Medicine practitioner through the Functional Medicine University. Here's what I do: I teach, coach, guide, and inspire my patients to incorporate into their lives a holistic approach to living that includes exercise, nutrition, and mind-body methods which will transform their current health condition into a vibrant and fulfilling state of being. To help my patients, I draw from over 23 years of practice and study of Chinese medicine including acupuncture, herbal medicine, bodywork, and a lifetime of dedication to martial arts. I continue post-graduate studies in Functional Medicine, Chinese Medicine, Pain Sciences, nutrition and exercise physiology. I'm a teacher and a perpetual student. In my clinic, I treat a number of conditions ranging from sports injuries to anxiety. The main bulk of my practice is dealing with pain - acute and chronic in nature. 95% of the time, patients feel relief from pain immediately. I also practice and teach Tai Chi. I think that Tai Chi is a wonderful system for structural integration, a healing art, and a powerful style of self-defense that should be embraced by anyone wishing to maintain health, and be fit from inside out, meaning the connective tissue, organs, and mental calmness. I consider exercise to be the catalyst of all healing methods. In my experience, patients who exercise regularly a minimum of 3 times per week, heal much faster than those who do not. To get to know me better, check out my Blog. You'll find out more about what I think about in relation to medicine, fitness, juicing and much more. It may give you a better idea of whether my work is a good fit for your needs. I hope to be of help to you.
