About me

Andreas Schwerte, O.M.D., L.Ac., has been working with patients in the San Francisco Bay Area and throughout Europe for over 20 years. He specializes in the treatment of pain, reproductive health, stress-related illness, as well as allergies/autoimmune and hormonal disorders. His patients highly praise him for his exceptional skills, knowledge, and compassionate, personable approach. Dr. Schwerte is dedicated to helping his patients start and maintain their path to health through personalized treatments, state of the art diagnostic testing, and the ancient wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine. Dr. Schwerte is a National Board and California State Board certified Licensed Acupuncturist (LAc), and a Doctor of Oriental Medicine (OMD). He received his Master of Science degree from the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences, and his Doctoral degree from South Baylo University in conjunction with the University of California San Francisco. Prior to coming to the United States he was trained at the Ruhr University School of Medicine in his native Germany. He is also a former member of the teaching faculty at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Science in Oakland, California. To further ensure that his patients continue to benefit from the most recent medical advancements, Dr. Schwerte has a strong background in orthopedic and internal medicine, medical research, teaching, acupuncture, and herbology. By offering the best of Western and Eastern medicine, he can provide effective solutions for complex medical problems. Bilingual in English and German, Dr. Schwerte's practice is located in the heart of San Francisco's Financial District, close to BART, as well as MUNI's streetcars, buses and cable cars.
