Medical History
Barrett's Esophagitis/GERD/Acid Reflux: the trick to treating anything is to resist the temptation to treat the symptom and instead try to diagnose the root of the problem, which, I can guarantee you, is always far removed from where the symptom is. For example, in this case, this patient had burning in his esophagus due to lack of bile flow. The bile alkalinizes the digestive juices so when it doesn't flow you'll burn out the lining of the digestive tract. But his gall bladder was lazy because of a sub clinical weakness in the thyroid gland.
Case Management

Ayurveda treatment for healing GERD

So in this case we had to support the thyroid, promote the flow of bile out of the gall bladder and then heal the gut lining. I present this case because this is the most common cause of acid reflux I see in my practice. Taking proton pump inhibitors (PPI's) doesn't get to the root cause and now we know they damage the kidneys, bones and create dementia.
