Complaints: Chronic fatigue, whole body fibromyalgic pain, upper shoulders tension, spine pain, PMS, hay fever, frequent sinus and urinary bladder infection, cries easily, headache, anxiety, depression, and perimenopause with PMS and hot flashes.

Acupuncture: Right-side Yin Horary points in Metal-Order of LU11, KD2, LR3, HT4, and SP9 with Earth points Lung 5, HT3, LR8, and KD10 for a constitution with Lesser Yin and Greater Yin combination (aka Kapha in Ayurveda, Melanchoic Cold-Dry in Unani, and Soeumin in Sasang)

Treatment process: The patient had 63 treatments in 3 years. She initially began with twice a week visit and now receiving acupuncture once a month. The first 6 treatments in Wood-Order of LR1, HT8, SP3, LU8, and KD10 were not as helpful as the Metal-Order. Acupuncture was significantly helpful for all the symptoms, lasting an average of several weeks at a time.

Discussion: For personal reason, this patient declined herbs, which would be more helpful for the internal and systemic diseases. Chronic infection indicates her syndrome is more interior related. The herbal formula would be Shi Quan Da Bu Tang (Bai Zhu, Bai Shao, Zhi Gan Cao, Huang Qi, Rou Gui, Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, He Shou Wu, Sheng Jiang, and Gan Cao). But acupuncture safely and effectively addresses her problems, which she was not able to get with chemistry-language medicine.

When the patient came in acute pain, I could see the mark of hopelessness in the

face. However, the patient was able to gain some trust after the very first session as

relief touched the soul. The person was unable to walk or exercise, which is an

integral part of the treatment. The person felt older and was perennially exhausted.

The first thing I did was to take care of digestive issues and water retention. Once

that was under check, I focussed on the pain. As the days went by, I am seeing

progress in my patient. Walking and exercising is being a part of this person's daily

life.

I did many dietary changes and started administering Chinese herbs. However, I did

not latch to the same treatment throughout. As my patient showed progression, I

kept altering the herbs to suit the need.

There was a calm and peace that my patient seemed to have gotten back. The

person was not able to come down as frequently as needed. But it was reported that

the benefits of the treatment lasted longer. My patient is recovering from pain now

and is a firm believer in the benefits of acupuncture.

I worked to discover the root cause of her ailments through different testing and showed her how all her complaints and symptoms were interrelated. Within a couple of months, her pain symptoms started to dissipate, her sleep was greatly improved and energy level rose dramatically. She no longer needs to use Vicodin for pain! She is now sleeping much better and her energy has increased enabling her to function in daily life. The cause(s) of the hives have been linked to certain foods which she now avoids. She is off the Zantac. Her gastrointestinal distress has dissipated and she no longer has blood sugar spikes and crashes. As a side-effect of getting healthy, to date, she has also shed 95 pounds, which is represented in the 'after' picture.

Some of the questions Sarah asked me: Have you treated other patients with success with Fibromyalgia?  I have treated many patients with Fibromyalgia with success and the fact that I had success outcomes put Sarah at ease. I started with our consultation followed by Acupuncture sessions. After her first acupuncture session, she reported her pain level from 7/10 to 3/10, a sharp drop from her condition. Her body responded very good after first Acupuncture sessions and she needed more sessions to help her with full recovery with her symptoms.

After one and a half month into Acupuncture sessions, she reported that she felt better than she had in years. I decided to branch out into other treatments as well to help support her kidneys such as Ionic Foot Bath. She got relief for her urinary tract infection from ionic bath. She was able to wean herself off from prescribed antibiotics that she had to take every couple of months! That itself was a huge achievement. In addition to Acupuncture sessions, I prescribed few supplements such as CBD oil blend and other Chinese herbs.

In Patient’s Own Words:

Getting acupuncture with Dr. Quan has transformed my life. I feel hopeful for once about maybe one day living without constant pain. I whole heartedly recommend her she is wonderful!

Follow-upChief Complaint:

Complaints: With the initial course of 36 Bisoma acupuncture treatments and Sasang herbal formula Xiang Fu Ba Wu Tang had relieved many problems. Fibromyalgia pain, intolerant reaction to foods, insomnia, alternating bowel movement, excessive menstrual bleeding, migraine, auto-immune related inflammation, hands swelling, hip pain, and low back pain were much better or mostly gone.  In addition, she had less fatigue even on long road trips.

Acupuncture: Left-side yang points in Metal-Order of LI1, UB66, GB41, SI5, and ST36 with earth points GB34 and LI11 because a constitution with Lesser Yin and Greater Yin has earth as a central element.

Treatment Process: The patient had 17 more acupuncture treatments at every 3-4 weeks to maintain the improved state, for perimenopause, and for premenstrual syndrome with severe mood changes.

Discussion: Asian medicine was able to relieve much of her systemic problems. The drastic improvement helped her mind and body have a higher quality of living.

THERAPY:

So I started with the balance method alternating shao-yin shao yang and shao yang-jue yin (thanks to Vanessa Leite insights) adding some points like Ren 4, 6, 14 and 17 also alternated in pairs

The pain reduced quickly after a few treatments (2, 3) but the tiredness was still there after 11 treatments

So I decided to give it a try with YNSA. David Bomzon and Avi Amirrecomend using the yang Ypsilon points, but because I forgot :s and also because I'm comfortable with this points I used the yin Ypsilon points according the the neck diagnostic. The points where always changing along the 3 treatment I've done.

And since the first treatment the patient has been recovering from her tiredness. The only acupuncture points ive been using at the same time are the Lu9 and Sp3 and in the last 2 treatments Lu6 also

Amazing results I think after several treatments where I couldn't solve the tiredness issue
